Using The Arts Parlor Facilities and Equipment
Air Conditioning:
You can heat or cool the space by setting the thermostat, located between the studios amidst the lockers. Using the Function key on the bottom right, select "Cool" or "Heat". The use the arrows on the right to select your target temperature. Do not use the button on the bottom left, leaving the fan setting on "Auto".
Chairs and Tables:
The Arts Parlor has 40 chairs, and 2 trestle tables for your events. Please return them to their storage places after your use.
Cleaning:
The Arts Parlor is meticulously cleaned every week. However, you may want to give the studio an extra sweep. The cleaning equipment is located between the studios at the top of the stairs leading down to the lounge. There are 2 garbage receptacles on the first floor, 1 between the studios, 1 in the foyer. There are additional receptacles in the lounge and the courtyard. 1 courtyard receptacle will accept loose trash. The others are for BAGGED trash only. There are 2 RECYCLING receptacles on the first floor, 1 between the studios and 1 in the foyer.
Courtyard:
You can build a fire in the courtyard using the portable firepit. You will need to pay a special clean up fee of $25. The courtyard has a picnic table, 3 all weather chairs, 4 standing ash trays, 5 tiki torches, and 2 beer keg ice containers.
Fliers and Literature:
Please leave no more than 20 fliers for your class/performance/event on the literature table.
Foyer and Lounge:
Please use the foyer and lounge to relax. Be conscious that others may be using the space, so moderate your sound level. Please be sure to clean up any trash you generate. Do not leave props or anything else in the foyer or lounge. The lounge also has a small refrigerator if you need to keep something cold during your event; do not leave anything in the refrigerator long-term.
Internet Access:
The Arts Parlor has a 4G WIMAX wi-fi system that you can access using the password "createarthere".
Lighting:
There are colored light bulbs available for performances. Communicate any needs within the space with the staff when you are scheduling your event.
Light Switches:
Studio light switches are located to the left of the entrance as you walk in. The small studio switches must first be pressed in to turn them on, then turned to adjust the light level. The large studio switches are turned on and adjusted by pulling up. The lounge lights are turned on using the switch at the top of the lounge stairs on the right. Bathroom lights are located to the left as you walk in, turned on by twisting the timed switches. The foyer/ramp/between studio lights are turned on at 3 locations: to the right as you walk in the front door, on the right wall of the foyer landing as you walk up the steps into the small studio, and between the studios opposite the thermostat.
Lockers:
Please use the lockers as you like during your event. For long-term rental, see the section on Membership.
Music Playback:
There are stereos in each studio that will accept iPods (or anything else that gives a signal using the provided mini-jack). If you have a CD, you can use one of the boom-boxes as a player, hooking it up to a stereo with the mini-jack.
Platforms:
If you are having an event and want to create a stage, the Parlor has eight platforms (width=4', length=8', height=4"). They can have legs mounted to provide additional height (though this is rarely requested). For more information, contact us by using the Feedback Menu.
Restrooms:
There are 2 restrooms located downstairs in the lounge.
